Etta's story
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO SET UP A TIME TO MEET OUR PETS.
Etta is a 5 year old, massively obese 27 pound girl who seems to be a Pug mix. She should probably be closer to 15 pounds. She just came to us from a chaotic home in which there were nearly 20 dogs and lots of people.
Poor Etta does not seem to have been socialized and probably spent her time immobile in a corner, waiting for the chaos around her to settle down. She had very long toenails, curled around under her feet, probably making it very difficult to walk. She is also so overweight that it is hard for her to enjoy walking.
Currently, this sweet girl is acting shell shocked and barely moves at all. All she wants to do is hide in a quiet, dark, safe cubby hole. When she was rescued and put in a car, she stayed in exactly the same place and position the entire trip to our rescue. She did not object at all to being carried.
She was a good girl at the vets office. She was spayed, her nails cut, and she also got a dental cleaning.
Our depressed sweetie has been very nice, a sad but pleasant and quiet pup. She seems to enjoy, in her own way, gentle petting of her head and you can see her eyes relax with your kind touch. She just does not seem to be used to any attention.
Of course, Miss Etta is brand new to our rescue. We have her housed with our other little dogs and she does fine around everyone though may not enjoy the pesky youngsters since she is not interested in play. She also knows nothing about toys and shows no interest in them.
We will continue to work with her, socialize her, and help her feel loved and safe. We will also work on helping her lose weight so she will feel better.
Etta is a gentle girl who really just never had a chance at living a normal life.
We are hoping that a very patient person with a supportive resident dog will give this pup a peaceful new home and help her transform into the happy (and much trimmer) dog she should have been all along.
A fenced yard for pottying is necessary since she cannot and will not walk on a leash yet. No little kids or high activity in her new home, please. This girl needs some peace and quiet!
Adoption donation $125.
